Update from Chile

Recently NOC took part in a grass roots protest of proposed hydroelectric projects in the Patagonia region of Chile. A coalition of local outfitters is trying to bring attention to the plight of the Rio Futaleufu and other rivers in southern Chile that are threatened with newly proposed dams by the Spanish owned power company Endesa. The "A" and "M" in dams above were made with kayaks from NOC's fleet of boats down in Chile. The Rio Futaleufu, arguably one of the best remaining free flowing whitewater rivers in the world could see construction of a dam as early as 2012.
